The Gethsemane Prayer Warriors' Mission and Vision
Our Prayer Belief
E.M. Bounds said, “Prayer is not the preparation for the battle, it is the battle.” A non-praying preacher and a non-praying church may flourish outwardly and advance in many aspects of their life. Both preacher and church may become synonymous for success; however, unless they rest on a praying basis, all success may eventually crumble into deadened life and ultimate decay. Prayer is the communion and fellowship with God. Prayer is the very access to God! Through prayer, we express our hearts to God, make known our requests, intercede for others and resist the works of darkness.
Mission Statement
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Jesus wants us to live fully dependent on Him and fully submitted to His Kingdom. Dependence on God and submission to His will are expressed in our prayers. Spiritual warfare is a lifestyle of prayer that we living in the last days must develop in our lives. It is a lifestyle of prayer which seeks to break the enemy’s strongholds while advancing God’s Kingdom here on earth.
Vision Statement
The Word of God states that the Body of Christ is in essence the House of The Lord.
1Cor. 3:9 says, “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.”
Ephesians 2:10-22 describes this house that God himself is building. If we are born-again, we are the place where God lives, we are His habitation, the literal place where He is dwelling and residing. We are the place where His presence lives!
Isaiah 56:7 says, “Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.” Therefore, we are the place where His prayer dwells. We are the place where prayer is produced.
God wants individuals, families, and the corporate body of Christ to become His house of prayer. In order to see that developed, LightHouse World Evangelism, Inc., has an opportunity for you to participate and become a part of the Gethsemane Prayer Warriors Cyber team.
It is Lighthouse World Evangelism’s desire that we become a beacon of light to the people of this world. It is our desire to show our love and compassion for each other, and it is our desire that we come together in unity and pray for one another.
Gethsemane Cyber Prayer Warriors
History
In 1996 Matthew Manning and Christa Braun were enrolled at the King’s College in Van Nuys, California. Matthew and Christa began a small pray group that met every Friday night at the College. After much prayer they both felt that the pray group should be called “The Gethsemane Prayer Group.” The below passage of Scripture was given to Matthew and Christa from God which in turn determined the name.
Jesus' Three Prayers
Matthew 26:36-46 Mark 14:32–42; Luke 22:40–46
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from me unless I drink it, your will be done.” And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going. See, my betrayer is at hand.”
During these prayer sessions, Matthew would teach a small devotion followed by intersession for the College faculty and the development of the college and seminary. There was also time for personal prayer for those gathered. A prayer board was erected and names and faces were placed on this board for prayer. When a prayer request had been fulfilled resulting in a positive outcome, the name or face would be taken off the prayer board and placed on a victory board.
The Gethsemane Prayer Group continued to grow each week and in 1998, Matthew was asked by the Pastoral Team at the Church On The Way to put a class together that would help those struggling with addictions and Identity issues find deliverance and healing in Jesus. Matthew accepted this challenge and “The Finding Your Identity In Christ Seminar was developed.
The Gethsemane Prayer Group and The Finding Your Identity In Christ Seminar’s continued through 1999 at The Church On The Way and the Kings College and Seminary. In 1998 Matthew and Christa Manning were married and in 1999 left The Kings College and Seminary to enter into full time ministry.
In 1997, Matthew was lead to begin LightHouse World Evangelism, Inc., a non-profit 501C3 organization which has conducted ministry all over the world as well as the United States for over a decade.
